Building a Resilient Company Culture Able to Fail
A half day to full day workshop for senior leaders and those who work with them or who are lead them. It challenges how leaders communicate, set expectations, and seek results from their teams.
Telling teams is not enough
Telling teams or organizations to work together, follow processes, or work toward a corporate or divisional objective is not enough. Leaders often assume their message resonates with their employees and teams. This workshop challenges those assumptions.
This highly interactive, engaging session does not tell leaders and their team members how or what to think. It shows them.
The lessons come from the room
The biggest impact comes from the lessons and perspectives that emerge. Everyone takes different elements from the game experience. It becomes even more powerful when their takeaways are compared, complemented, and compiled with those of others.
The lessons don't stop there. The workshop turns that awakening and inspiration into actionable attitudes and plans. Experiencing the power of a growth mindset is good. It is greater when leaders integrate it into team and organizational culture.
What leaders work on
People raise concerns, ask questions, and admit mistakes without fear of blame.
Leaders show, in daily actions, that every voice on the team counts.
Expectations are clear, commitments are kept, and people are trusted to deliver.
Leaders check that their message landed, rather than assuming it did.
Teams and divisions work toward shared objectives instead of their own.
Setbacks are treated as learning, and that learning is reinvested into the work.
The culture of learning and dealing with failure properly starts from the top.
Leaders will fail in this session
The leaders and other participants in this session will fail. What matters is how they learn from that failure and reinvest that learning into what they do. Embracing failure as learning is how teams evolve and grow.
“It was an incredible workshop, we all had fun and laughed but were reminded of the power environment has- the unlock being vulnerable and patient can bring - as long as you’re willing to consider failure , learning”
A small investment against a large cost
Your company is going to face failures and setbacks. The question is whether it is ready, and whether everyone in every part of the company holds and lives a growth mindset.
Failures that are not handled well are massively costly. Sometimes the cost shows up as a major failure, such as a bad product or a missed deadline. It also shows up in the day-to-day actions and interactions of every team member.
The cost of a half day session.
What poorly handled failures can cost: bad products, missed deadlines, and rework.
Savings in employee satisfaction from productive and enjoyable team environments.
The session helps leaders promote perseverance so their teams overcome and learn from setbacks, instead of repeating them.
Agenda
Half day, 3–4 hours. Larger groups run the same flow with table teams and a facilitated room-wide debrief. Optionally, in the afternoon or next day, the workshop can build on extension activities as well as incorporating the content into the programs and processes of the organization.
Leaders state the messages they believe their teams have heard. The workshop tests those assumptions.
A team game to translate the concepts into practice. Make the assumptions real. To evaluate whether the assumptions did match reality. Understanding and appreciating the value of learning from failure.
Each table names its own takeaways, then combines them with the entire room to develop a shared set of lessons, themes, and takeaways.
A second round built to learn from failure. Teams practice learning from it and reinvesting that learning in the next attempt.
Leaders and their reports look at how expectations are set, how results are sought, and how failure is handled today.
Leaders and teams commit to specific attitudes and actions to carry growth mindset into team and company culture.
What leaders leave with
Who it's for
Senior leaders, ideally joined by the people who report to them, so discovery and culture building happen together. Runs for 5 to 20 people, for 200 to 500, and every number in between.
Beyond the first session
The Crowd Training can extend the workshop with lesson plans, corporate initiatives, and intermittent live, virtual, and on-demand training that expand and reinforce the learning. It is most effective when customized and aligned to your company's objectives, terms, and industry.
